Introducing Authenticated API Access and Usage-Based Plans

As usage grows, we’re introducing authenticated API access and usage-based plans to support different workload volumes and service requirements, while keeping Safe APIs open for low-volume and exploratory use.

Safe APIs provide programmatic access to Safe accounts and transactions, and enable developers to build tooling, automation, and integrations on top of Safe.

As usage grows, we’re introducing authenticated API access and usage-based plans to support different workload volumes and service requirements, while keeping Safe APIs open for low-volume and exploratory use.

API access tiers

Safe API access is structured to support a wide range of use cases – from low-volume applications to high-throughput systems.

Unauthenticated access remains freely available for low-volume usage within shared limits.Workloads that exceed those limits, or require higher throughput, webhooks, or additional service guarantees, will need authenticated access.

API plans are based on usage volume and service level.

Unauthenticated: For experimentation and exploratory testing

  • Limited monthly usage

  • Sustained throughput: Up to 2 requests per second

  • No webhooks or support

Designed for low-volume usage within shared limits.

Builder: Authenticated access for early-stage projects and low-volume usage

  • Limited monthly usage

  • Sustained throughput: Up to 5 requests per second

  • No webhooks or support

This plan is suitable for small applications operating within shared limits.

Growth: Authenticated access for higher and more predictable workloads

  • ~1M API units per month

  • Higher sustained throughput: Up to 15 requests per second

  • Webhooks included

Supports most applications with sustained or growing usage.

Scale: Authenticated access for high-throughput or mission-critical workloads

  • Up to 50RPS and 3M APIs units per month

  • Higher sustained request rates

  • Dedicated Slack support

Existing users and migration

Existing high-volume users will be contacted directly and provided support in a transition period before enforcement begins. If you believe your usage exceeds shared limits and have not been contacted, please email support@safe.global.

If your needs exceed the Scale plan, please contact support@safe.global

During this period:

  • Access will not be interrupted

  • Migration support will be available

Authentication and usage tiers take effect:

  • 24 February 2026 for unauthenticated and new authenticated users

  • After 31 March 2026 for existing authenticated users, unless you sign up for a new tier earlier. If you don’t opt for a new tier, you will default to the unauthenticated tier.

Getting started

  • Set up authenticated access

  • Review documentation on quotas and rate limits

  • Contact the team for Scale plans

This update establishes a clearer and more scalable foundation for Safe API usage across different workload sizes.
